A judge has given billionaire businessman Clive Palmer a tongue-lashing at the trial into the collapse of Queensland Nickel, which shut down in 2016 with the loss of hundreds of jobs

Mr Palmer was absent for most of the first two days of the Brisbane Supreme Court trial, prompting Justice Debra Mullins to reprimand the former federal MP.

Mr Palmer said he had been "vexed" between coming to court each day and attending to his duties as the director of his companies."Ah, well, can I tell what directors of companies usually do -- they engage lawyers," Justice Mullins shot back. A team of special liquidators is also tasked with recovering almost $70 million in taxpayer funds used to cover unpaid entitlements to about 800 workers.Loading

The court has previously heard that, as QN hurtled towards collapse, the ailing company was $25 million in the red and losing $5 million more each a month with creditors circling.

You can give them a tongue lashing but did they reeeealy punish him by the law.... He is immune to verbals

Good. Pity he’s not paying them

It us about time directors boards of business whether small or large be held accountable in law and that white collar crime be treated as it should be 'a crime'. People who steal via the ledger book are just common thieves. It's time people started to feel what goal is like

Pity the judge did not hold him in contempt of the court and ensure Palmer turned up on time the next day by giving him a room for the night in the cells. I am sure Clive will suddenly understand the need for proper representation and respecting the court after that.

Sounds wet and sloppy.....I bet that left a bad taste in their mouth!!

How about giving him a lashing in his pocket

These appointed judges think they are God and walk on water. If he works within the rules so be it. Time the judiciary had a long hard look at themselves. They live in fantasy land.

well, that told him

How about fining him?

And this LYING BASTARD was able to con a lot of people (For 60M. ) at the last election!! His type of CORRUPT POLITICKING should not be ALLOWED in another ELECTION!! 🤪😡🤪😩😠

I wonder if developers/builders that deliberately go bankrupt and come back in a family members name gets the same treatment?

Now lash his assets and sort out all the people who are missing Clivebucks
