Fatoyinbo: Amnesty knocks police over invasion of Dakolos’ home

Policemen from the Special Tactical Squad under the office of the Inspector General of Police Mohammed Adamu, on Saturday evening, stormed the Dakolos’ home in a white bus, allegedly to serve them an invitation letter.

“It is unacceptable that women seeking justice for sexual abuse are subjected to arrest and intimidation by a unit of police whose remit is armed robbery. We fear that these actions may prevent victims of sexual violence from pursuing justice. Mba said: “The Nigeria Police Force is confirming that its operatives today, July 20, served official invitation letters on Bisola and Timi Dakolo. The invitation is sequel to an on-going police investigation touching on the wider and highly publicised case involving Bisola Dakolo, Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo and others.

The police invitation letter to Timi and Busola Dakolo is part of investigation procedure, a police source said. “I don’t see the reason for making so much noise about this. I am not saying the matter at hand is not serious but I feel there are other important issues that need our attention as a nation. It is merely an invitation; it is not as if our operatives killed anybody.”

The couple yesterday said they would not honour the invitation of the police at their headquarters in Abuja tomorrow but on Wednesday. The letter of invitation from the police signed by Kolo Yusuf, a Deputy Commissioner of Police in the IGP Special Tactical Squad, reads: “This office is investigating a case of criminal conspiracy, falsehood and a threat to life that your name was mentioned.
