'We need to get every single drug dealer off the street. I don't care what they sell, they are harming our children, they are harming our youth.'

Police yell the instruction. A man in a red shirt raises his hands. The contents of a black bag retrieved from his trousers spill on to the pavement. He looks worried.

Michael Sun, the politician paid to restore the rule of law in Johannesburg, presents the suspect with a pair of handcuffs. "We need to get every single drug dealer off the street. I don't care what they sell, they are harming our children, they are harming our youth," says Sun in a video of a crime-prevention operation he shared on Tuesday."I've seen some bad stuff that I will remember even when I'm really old," he told TimesLIVE in an interview on Thursday.

"On one occasion, we were conducting a raid at a certain house. We were shocked that it was a drug den, where young girls were used for prostitution, girls as young as 11 years old … they were so terrified … that broke my heart." Sun is outspoken about his passion for tackling crime and lawlessness. It persuaded him to give up his job as an attorney and focus his energy on being a public-safety official. Sun holds a Baccalaureus Procurationis degree from the University of SA , a higher diploma in tax law and an advanced certificate in municipal governance from the University of Johannesburg.

That will never happen!!!!!

And you also need to control ypur children. Its not enough keeping drug dealers off the streets when you cant control your children at home.

Since the police are and have been dragging their feet on drugs and now they've become an epidemic. As the media run undercover stories and expose those involved or we will have no country very soon. The dealing happens in broad daylight.

Firstly, deal with the out of control mushrooming of Taverns and sale of cigarettes to under 16 years learners in townships. Can you deal with them? The so-called Law Enforcement Agencies know about this.

Yes!

In a short space of time, hundreds of thousands of rands were crowdfunded for the 'kind hearted' petrol attendant. Why as citizens are we not crowdfunding to support guys like Sun? Criminals gang up against good citizens. It's a numbers game. Yes 👍 wena ndoda enezimendlela...😎

Brilliant to see action over speaking. Also good to see the positive contributions the SAPS make to our communities.

Investigate corruption in governance. They promised jobs. No jobs lead to despair, thievery or social grants. It's not rocket science. Or 4iR MYANC CyrilRamaphosa ALETTAHA ReardonSandra rinmor
