A rape survivor has told eNCA how he struggled when he reported the matter, purely because he's a man.

Olwethu Twalo says this attitude is causing many to suffer. In 2015 at the age of 25, Twalo was raped by a man who knew him and his family. But the reason Twalo's speaking out now is the way his case was treated.

His main fight is to share his story in the hope that he can help remove the element of disbelief attached to male rape.

This is really sad 😔.

Men get raped and suffer in silence because of this. Rape victims, both male and female must be treated equally.

Shame

sadly

I low-key also wish to be raped

It's so disappointing that in this day and age we still hear of such incidents. Our police are just insensitive.

Why do you still call them police not porridge Papa!

Shame, no man wants to be sodomized, that's a scar for life

Sodomy survivor....

This is a big problem in our police officers. Especially when it comes Rape cases even woman who reports rape cases some they turned away. Some molested and intimidation, it's not matter of man or women our Police officers don't take rape victims seriously.

If the issue of rape was handled as rape instead of one gender being made like they are more important, maybe public opinion would not be skewed 🤔 NotInMyNameSA
