KUALA LUMPUR: Several opposition MPs say they will not declare their assets to the Dewan Rakyat, claiming that the manner in which the motion was raised in the house today is not according to law.
But Takiyuddin Hassan said the Dewan Rakyat has no law stipulating action against those who do not declare their assets.Other MPs from PAS and Umno including Bung Moktar Radin and Tajuddin Abdul Rahman agreed. He named Mukhriz Mahathir who declared a monthly salary of RM105,000 a month as Kedah menteri besar along with assets of RM25 million.“Has that been probed?” he asked.
“Let’s discuss,” he added. “This is not a question of accountability. The way it is raised has to be right. We have to observe the laws.”She questioned whether the government was afraid to create a new law or amend the MACC Act.Tajuddin Abdul Rahman meanwhile questioned the need to know about an MP’s income.
