Actor John Jarratt pinned down his female housemate, put his hand over her mouth and ripped off her clothing before sexually assaulting her more than 40 years ago, a jury has been told.
Mr Bowers said the woman went to bed one night in September 1976 wearing a T-shirt and underpants, and woke about 3am when Jarratt pulled the sheet and blanket off her.She is expected to give evidence that he was fully dressed, wearing a long black leather coat, and smelt of alcohol. He said Jarratt tore off the woman's shirt and underpants "with some force", leaving her lying on her bed shocked and frozen in fear.
Jarratt allegedly pinned the woman's legs with his own, used one of his arms to hold both of her arms above her head, and used his other arm to put a hand over her mouth. Mr Bowers said the woman, who reported the alleged incident to police in 2017, will be the main witness for the prosecution.
