There's no duty on UK employers to prevent sexual harassment. That has to change | Emily Reynolds

Most of us understand how our physical wellbeing is protected at work – health and safety measures, much maligned by the right, have made sure of that. But what if you’re sexually assaulted? Shockingly, employers currently have no legal duty to prevent harassment – a glaring oversight that a new campaign by an alliance of organisations including Time’s Up, the TUC and Amnesty International is hoping to change.

The employer has a duty of care of its staff. This includes harassment. Any law you are proposing is therefore redundant.

I work in HR and recommend that if you’re physically or verbally assaulted/threatened or feel disrespected then take it to HR. Anyone who is signed up to the CIPD code of conduct has to take your allegation seriously. Also see acasorguk guidelines for management best practice.

There SHOULD be.

This is just going to result in companies not hiring heterosexual men. The people advocating this understand this perfectly well
