“I wonder what sort of conscience some of us have. How can you seat and preside and lock people up for years and even sentence some to death and yet you are not doing what the constitution says you should do?” Nigeria Onnoghen Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari made the clarification yesterday during a meeting with the All Progressives Congress National Leader, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, and chieftains of the Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, Afenifere, who were at Aso Rock to table the rising insecurity in the South West region before the nation’s number one citizen.

He said: “What I do is when a person cannot justify what he has or fails to declare as the constitution specifies… some of them swear to almighty God that their property doesn’t belong to them until we show them their bank accounts and their companies, right then we have some peace. “Anybody who cannot account for what he has and for refusing to declare, we will have to do something about it. I will tell you Afenifere leaders that that was why I had to deal, though reluctantly, with the former Chief Justice of Nigeria because there were millions of dollars, euros not to talk of naira which were not declared.

“I wonder what sort of conscience some of us have. How can you seat and preside and lock people up for years and even sentence some to death and yet you are not doing what the constitution says you should do by occupying that vital institution?”

Baby feeding

It's been 4 years Mr President, and the statement exactly suits all you have been doing!

seat/sit

And rigged election!!!!!

If the president has any integrity, he will not accept a stolen mandate. But unfortunately, he has none

CJN (Onoghen) was obviously the only obstacle to the rigging plan. His removal was necessary to accomplish the plan

See who is talking? If we are to follow the Constitution pmb would have been impeached for serial breaches of the Constitution.

Look at kettle calling pot black! Only in Nigeria .

Now look who's talking. 🙄 You know what they say about glass houses. How can you sit & watch the people who 'chose' u to lead them die of poverty, insecurity & lack of fundamental human rights. Yet you are not doing what a leader is supposed to do 🤷

AbadaEfeJulius - ex CJN was sacked bcos Buhari wanted to rig the 2019 election

ayemojubar Buhari is just a shame, taking Nigerians for ride. Sorry for the judiciary that allowed themselves to be used against their CJN. Buhari is not fit for democracy

First time he'd made sense to me

This man makes me angry!!! How can u sit and allow yourself to be rigged blatantly into power

I think is becoming crystal clear to wailers now

We know already

By their ethnic & religious backgrounds one can precisely predict the type of leader they would be & the type of leadership they will offer

Says the man of conscience

Initially he said he was not aware

MBuhari You're lying. Onnoghen resigned voluntarily and it's on record. And you accepted his resignation. And his retirement package is N2.5bn! To set the record straight, you did not 'fire' Onnoghen.

Sit not seat.

Very well done MBuhari others would know how to account for what they have genuinely and what they stole to have. Great lesson

Saint Buhari is speaking... A man who obeys and honours the spirit and letters of our kwonstitution 😂 😂 laughing in Hausa

The biggest exposed judicial criminal of all times. Where are all his supporters now? Onoghen smells funky now.

It practices the corrupt presidential system of govt adopted from the US; what do you expect?

MBuhari did brilliantly well. That should serve as lesson to others top officials

Hmm like we don't know why Oga presido save your breath we know why

Fake news President Buhari never said ' How can you seat.......' This is Guardian now making up errors as they move along.
