GEORGE TOWN: The four victims who were buried alive in a freak landslide at a resort along Jalan Batu Ferringhi did not have legal documents with them, says George Town OCPD, Asst Comm Che Zaimani Che Awang.

ACP Che Zaimani said the victims - Maung Htwe, 38, Ong , Nai Cho Inn, 49, and another still unidentified, did not have permits with them.ACP Che Zaimani said the post mortem results showed that Nai died due to a blunt impact to the head and chest.

“Ong died due to suffocation, whereas Maung and the unidentified victim died due to traumatic asphyxia,” he said. Meanwhile, ACP Che Zaimani added that the fingerprints of the four victims were taken to aid in the investigation, and that the family members of the victims are being contacted.It is learnt that the resort owner had recently contracted a Myanmar worker, who happened to be Ong to build a retaining wall, after realising that the hill separating the resort and Jalan Batu Ferringhi had signs of erosion.
