French region ordered to provide migrants with water

The water facilities at a gym in Grande-Sythe, northern France, which houses some 700 migrants, have been described as 'obviously insufficient'. – EPA pic, June 22, 2019.

FRANCE’S highest administrative court yesterday ordered authorities to install water points, showers and toilets in a gymnasium housing hundreds of migrants in conditions described by civil groups as a violation of fundamental rights. The Council of State gave regional authorities eight days to install “sufficient” resources and provide some 700 migrants with information, in their own languages, about their rights, according to the order seen by AFP.
