Magistrate Nor Arifin Hisham ruled yesterday that the prosecution had proven a prima facie case against Farid Kamil.Farid Kamil told the court that he would give a sworn statement from the dock.
His counsel Megat Syazlee Mokhtarom said defence would call three witnesses, including Farid Kamil himself.On Jan 16 last year, Farid Kamil, 38, claimed trial to two charges of voluntarily causing hurt to policeman Kons Muhammad Nizam Jamaluddin, 24, and accounts executive Ashraf Ahmad, 35. He also claimed trial to the charge of using criminal force on Muhammad Nizam, who was discharging his duty as a police officer at the time.He was alleged to have committed the four offences at around 1pm on Jan 11 last year at the Kota Damansara police station.
When met outside the court, Farid Kamil – who was released from prison on June 19 after being granted a stay of execution for his nine-month sentence for drug abuse – said he was happy to be able to see his family again. He said he hoped to continue his career by being involved in Remp-It 2, a sequel to action film Remp-It in which he played the protagonist.
