Justice Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali, however, reduced the jail term imposed on Datuk Dr Mohd Adam Che Harun from 18 months to six months and maintained the fine of RM300,000, which the accused had paid.
In his decision Friday , Justice Nazlan did not find any error with the trial judge's ruling and said that the conviction was safe. On the issue of sentencing, Justice Mohd Nazlan affirmed the RM300,000 fine imposed on the accused but said the learned Sessions Court judge did not give enough consideration to the accused's old age.The court also allowed a stay of execution on the jail time pending an appeal to the Court of Appeal.In May 2017, the 75-year-old was sentenced to 18 months' in jail and fined RM300,000 in default one year's jail for providing false revenue figures to Bursa Malaysia.
He was charged on Dec 10, 2007, with furnishing false information to Bursa Malaysia on Page 2 of the Quarterly Report on Consolidated Results of Megan Media for the financial period that ended on Jan 31, 2007. He was charged under Section 122B read together with Section 122 of the Securities Industry Act 1983, punishable under Section 122B of the same Act.Securities Commission Deputy Public Prosecutor V. Shoba prosecuted while the accused was represented by lawyer Datuk Shukri Mohamed.
Wow! Judge: I hereby reduce former executive chairman's jail sentence from 18 months to 6 months as he is old & not in good health. I think Najib can get away with his jail sentences by this precedent. Perhaps 125 years to 2.5 years. Bravo JUDGE!
