APC Rep seat: Ex-minister, Dambazau’s son floors Buhari’s former aide Sumaila in court

ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to issue Certificate of Return to Shamsudeen Dambazau.The court had nullified the candidature of Sumaila after his election as representative of Sumaila/Takai federal constituency of Kano in the 2019 general election.On Wednesday, the court held that Sumaila’s appeal lacked merit and consequently dismissed same without cost.

The court agreed with Dambazau’s counsel, Nuraini Jimoh, that Sumaila was not validly nominated to be vie for a seat in the House of Representatives having contested for Kano South senatorial primary and lost to Kabiru Gaya. Jimoh had argued that the state chapter of APC dubiously compensated Sumaila with House of Representatives’ ticket.
