Voluntary assisted dying is now legal in Victoria and terminally ill Victorians will have the power to end their life through landmark euthanasia laws. Patients with less than six months to live can now apply to end their lives, but are required to meet 68 safeguards before they are approved.
Premier Daniel Andrews says it's the right time to have the laws, saying ‘we made this choice, it was the right time to make this choice and I think that the vast majority of Victorians support the choice that the Parliament made’. ‘Having said that though, I fully respect those that have a different view to me, part of having a respectful debate is to acknowledge that not everybody shares my view,’ he says.
news_australian My goodness he’s thick isn’t he ? He can’t comprehend the difference between capital punishment and voluntary assisted dying. Here’s a tip dimwit, the word “voluntary”
The current rules are a start. It will be better once we get to the same stage as Belgium, where physician assisted suicide, becomes an accepted personal choice, regardless of the reason.
It must be hard being such a negative person day in, day out Chris. Why not take a break and find something you can be positive about for a change. It’ll do you good.
Let people choose their Own exit. There are So Many hurdles to jump to get even Closr to taking their own life!
Because Voluntary Euthanasia is so much worse that involuntary termination of life; e.g. dying on an operating table due to malpractice, or dying because a crappy government won't make vital drugs available due to their cost....what price human life? HippocraticHypocrites
Mark MY words, Mr Kenny. You are so dated, so irrelevant, so blah. So shaddap your face.
I tried to euthanase his blah. but unsuccessfully.
Sky news is the far right hand of the lnp
Our bodies belong to us, we should be able to leave them as we wish.
LyleShelton Dear God are the majority so blind? So stupid to support this move which is full of holes- setting us up for involuntary euthanasia
Contrary Chris. I'll give you a miss
Indeed, a watershed to be celebrated. People get to decide the time and circumstances of their own death. With Kenny though, I would make an exception.
Yeah Chris you’re right. Most people are in favour and last time I checked you’re not an expert on...anything. Watershed moment will be when you realise you’re not a good journalist. But keep at it, you might get better.
LyleShelton Completely voluntary so piss off and leave others in peace to control their own lives
Mark my words I think not ...
Not supporting capital punishment and supporting euthanasia are not even in the same building but that's no obstacle for Kenny.
'Most of you will be in favour of it, but mark my words, my moral standpoint overides that, so let me give you a lecture on morals'. Not only are most of us in favour of it, but we totally understand why someone would make such a decision, and it has nothing to do with morals .
Kenny presumes to know what he's talking about.... because he's Kenny.... the most rigorous program in the world in terms of its checks and balances. For the terminally ill when there is no more hope and the suffering is beyond measure. STFU till u know what you're talking about
LyleShelton A sad day when a country/state agrees with the spirit of death. We pray these laws are overturned ASAP. euthanasia alllifematters protectlife
And now the fear mongering starts. How boringly predictable from these virtue signallers in the media. auspol
No not in favour ...we die soon enough
There's a lot chris doesn't like.
The state isnt sanctioning taking of a life. All it is doing is providing legal avenue for those who qualify, choice to taking their own Even so, states sanction taking of a life everyday. Police have guidelines on when they can shoot to kill & military have terms of engagement
what i do with my life is entirely my business , as is your opinion
Nobody marks your words dear...you are largely irrelevant to the vast majority of people...
This is such a callous, narrow-minded view but I envy you Chris Kenny that evidently you have not had to bear personal witness to the extent of suffering, mentally or physically, which would compel a person to ask for an assisted death. If you had, you would understand.
Why would we pay any attention to opinion polls when they were so wrong about the election?
Indeed. Euthanasia is murder, plain and simple. It doesn't assist someone to live, nor does it relieve suffering, it ends life via murder.
LyleShelton Chris Kenny and Lyle Shelton both strongly against it. When 2 of the biggest fuckwits in the country think it’s bad then you know it’s a great thing.
yes it is a watershed moment in which people can how choose to die without pain and with dignity.
Your words don't count for much
Classic Kenny. He's opposed to treating humans atleast as well as we already treat dogs.
does he support euthanasia for dogs?
oh yes.... kennyreport .. the oracle of everything
Hey Chris. Have you ever witnessed a loved one dying an extremely slow and extremely painful death? We do it for our pets, but not for our family members? And you're comparing suicide to this? Go back to your cave.
KENBY barking a shadows again
