In a 33-page opinion released Friday, the Office of Legal Counsel wrote that Mr. Mnuchin could conclude the Democrats’ request was really designed to make the returns public, not to oversee the performance of the Internal Revenue Service.
The Sec Treas is the governor of America via the IMF which is a UN company. And the U.S. Inc. Is its bitch. Too easy. Its written down people. Can be read. Stop using google and use a damn library with hard copies
Why isn't he in jail
Well duh. No reason to as turning them over would be, wait for it, against the law. Dumbasses
What a joke? The US is now a banana republic.
Of course it did. Trump has his despicable lickspittle Barr in charge. On to the courts!
Most transparent administration in history ... eh?
This is outrageous. This guy runs his private business and uses the presidency to promote it and cover his criminal actions. How far have we fallen already! Let’s vote that Mafia out in 2020!!!
The justification for protecting the POTUS's 'personal taxes' doesn't apply to that of his many businesses. There's no private information there, nor do businesses have any special privacy shielding from release.
IFixedIt The Justice Department on Trump’s orders backed Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin's refusal to turn over President Trump's tax returns to the House Ways and Means Committee
It was an unlawful request… Have Nancy Pelosi turn over her tax returns
Of course. There is some assumption of high to privacy. If there was a problem with President Trump's taxes you can be sure the IRS would have been all over him in 2016. Clearly a political ploy to exploit whatever they could find. So sad.
Of course, we now have a corrupt President who has brought in all his corrupt cronies, like Barr, Mnuchin,etc.. We most vote these elites out who think they are above answering to the same laws we have to obey!. And they have the nerve to keep harping on Hillary? Lock them up!!!
The DOJ is anything but a justice department. Barr is a criminal like trump so this is not shocking
not exactly a surprise, isn't it now?
The Second Branch of backed Secretary Steven Mnuchin's refusal to turn over President Trump's tax returns to the third, equal branch of government.
Of course they did
JohnMcCainDayJune14th
Surprise, surprise.
The desperation to hide these returns shows that they have some juicy secrets
No kidding?
Why is there so much secrecy, so much protection to be done for someone that says he is innocent of everything?
Remember. the attorney general is a trump puppy
Uh duh. Barr wasn't brought in to get our nation's chief attorney, he was brought in to help bury the bodies and set fire to their homes to hide all the evidence.
