Ian Bailey has spoken about the decision of a French court yesterday to convict him, in his absence, of the murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier in Schull in Co Cork in December 1996.Extradition proceedings are expected to follow.
"I know there are people in this country that know it wasn't me, it was the culprit, and I know they are sitting on that, and my prayer has been that the truth comes out." Although he was not operating his market stall today because of the weather, he said he had not been tempted to stay at home.
Perhaps if we had a listen to the illegal tapes the the Former Garda Commissioner wanted to destroy it might help, or if the oul five bar gate ever turned up. Surely if it was covered in the killers blood the Gaurds would not have lost it.
The main problem in this case, is that it tooks hours to get the only irish coroner on site and the body was outside. And from the French perspective, it's how the irish system works. I believe he's guilty anyway but he'll probably never confess.
We'll never know!!
