Corporate greed is responsible for an opioid crisis that has cost Oklahoma thousands of lives and will take billions of dollars to repair, the state's attorney general told a judge Tuesday at the start of the nation's first state trial against the companies accused of fueling the problem. Oklahoma

NORMAN, Okla. -- Corporate greed is responsible for an opioid crisis that has cost Oklahoma thousands of lives and will take billions of dollars to repair, the state's attorney general told a judge Tuesday at the start of the nation's first state trial against the companies accused of fueling the problem.

Lawyers for Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson say the products the company manufactured were not just legal, but were heavily regulated. Janssen attorney Larry Ottaway told the judge that the drugs are important because they can help people manage debilitating pain. The state also contends two other Johnson & Johnson subsidiaries, Noramco and Tasmanian Alkaloids, were the primary suppliers of the active pharmaceutical ingredients provided to a number of opioid manufacturers, including Purdue and Teva.

The state's lawyers also intend to call as witnesses family members of those who have died from taking the drugs, including Craig Box , whose son Austin was a 22-year-old standout linebacker for the Oklahoma Sooners when he died of a prescription drug overdose in 2011.

He's not wrong

He SHOULD have the Media on trial for creating the hoax...but...

I liked the defense attorneys’ (one or more?) response. Illegal drugs. And I will add they made a choice to use and possibly mix drugs.

Johnson & Johnson, Oklahoma Spar in Opioid TrialOklahoma is seeking to hold Johnson & Johnson accountable for widespread opioid addiction in a closely watched trial Promoting inappropriate use of opioids and easy access to the general public is a public health threat Well yeah I mean J&J, Purdue and King are nothing but drug cartels; they pushed and prodded and bribed to get doctors to overprescribe that poison and lied about its effects and addictiveness and kicked off the heroin epidemic we should jail their execs alongside the Sinaloa boys My understanding is this is a legal product. People who miss use the product, steal the product, take imported product without prescriptions are the ones responsible. The product has a label I was approved on that.
