Minister's aide: AG wanted lawyer out, no objection during early stages

Attorney-General Tommy Thomas instructed that the appointment of lawyer Syazlin Mansor be revoked, said an aide to Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin.“The ministry immediately acted in accordance with the AG's advice and instructed its lawyer toSyazlin was representing the Housing and Local Government Ministry as well as the Fire and Rescue Department in the inquest to determine firefighter Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim's cause of death.

“It has been public knowledge that the lawyer has been representing the Fire and Rescue Department and the ministry since the inquest commenced on Feb 11, 2019.

When you take a stand towards a certain presumption of an undecided issue, of course, you as a supposed neutral counsel would need to excuse from the proceedings. People seemed to forget this is an inquest. There's no one being tried here.

The 'conflict of interest' situation should have been realised by the lawyer'the wife of Zuraida's aide' - who withdrew from the proceedings! How could she not know that? The proceedings didn't start yesterday or last week. It has been going on for several months!
