Assembly approves creation of 4th class traditional chiefdoms in Nasarawa

This was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by his Press Secretary, Mr Jibrin Gwamna, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria in Keffi.

Abdullahi revealed that before now, the Nasarawa State Local Government Law 2018, Section 51, sub-section 1, gives the state governor power to create 1st class, 2nd class and 3rd class status only. According to the statement, the Chairman House standing committee on Judiciary and member representing Lafia Central, Alhaji Abubakar Imam, said the amendment was timely considering how various communities are agitating for chiefdoms in the state.

The statement said that the motion was seconded by the Minority Leader and member representing Doma North constituency, Alhaji Mohammed Okpede.
