FIGHTING THE RULING. Students and Filipino language advocates march to the Supreme Court in Manila on November 26, 2018, as they condemn the order to remove Filipino as a required college subject. File photo by Ben Nabong/RapplerIn a resolution dated March 5, the Supreme Court en banc upheld itsafter petitioner Tanggol Wika failed to offer"any substantial argument" on the case.

"It does not limit the academic freedom of universities and colleges to require additional courses in Filipino, Panitikan, and the Constitution in their respective curricula," the High Court said.In the same ruling, the en banc ruled that it was"erroneous" for petitioners to assume that the K to 12 Law does not serve the interest of science high school students.

In a statement, Tanggol Wika called the SC decision a"setback" in the education system, saying that they intend to file another motion for reconsideration"in an effort to exert all remedies."

'are not required.' I wont go into a rant on the importance of preserving our native languages but does 'not required' mean that colleges can still choose to teach this subject or is it that colleges must stop teaching Filipino and Panitikan because it is redundant?

Writ of makabayan.

Yes!!! I want English only!

Whaaaaat?, are you going to change it to Chinese Language

Nakakalungkot.

Agree to that! Grade 1 to 12 pinagaaralan na yan, dipa ba matutunan?! Pahirap nalang sa college, waste of time and money

I thought our govt wanted to promote patriotism (thru rotc)? E di bat mahalaga din to? Smh
