Richard Sackler, an owner of OxyContin maker Purdue Pharma LP, received an email from a friend in 2002 detailing what the friend called some “items of interest.”
The friend, an anesthesiologist, mentioned that his local pharmacy had spent $12,000 on remodeling to increase security because of OxyContin, the powerful opioid painkiller. The friend recounted that he had recently spoken to a student at an exclusive private high school who said someone had tried to sell her the “designer drug” OxyContin in the campus halls.
This is all such a joke. Sue the FDA. They approved this for distribution. Heroine has been around for a long time with no statics on the number of deaths. Give heroine away for free and maybe people will wise up.
There certainly is some truth to those views. There are people that have legitimately benefitted from Opiates, because they do work. There are also lots of people who are more readily addicted to substances that are dying. Should all suffer because of these people?
It is the American way. Get people hooked on something. Then make a big profite. Or promise a big payout for only $2 a line ( lottery ).
