The judges reject claims that a colonial-era law violated the constitution.

In 2016, LGBT rights activists filed a case with Kenya's High Court saying that homosexual relations should be decriminalised. The case wasn't heard until February 2018 and a verdict was initially expected in February 2019 - but delayed until Friday.Image copyright"The LGBT community in Kenya have created an amazing tribe and culture for themselves," says Brian Macharia, an activist for the Gay and Lesbian Coalition of Kenya.

Gay men also use dating apps - although users with international roaming do get a warning about the legal status when logging in while in Kenya.

I may not agree with Kenya on this, but it’s not ‘my’ country and is up to their people to decriminalise...however I am more dismayed at the comments praising Kenya, not for sticking to its rules but for the homophobic content

Very sad

Send in the activists 👊

I originally read this as Kanye 😏

For shame. I hope we put significant pressure, including reviewing commonwealth membership, on them to decriminalise it.

On dear more incomers !!

Any government that takes an unhealthy interest in what its citizens do in bed, needs removing...

Rhammified I BLAME BREXIT

Their right, it's for the people to challenge it, not for us to tell them how to make laws.

It’s always fun when ppl think they know what happens in certain countries and therefore qualified to make comments such as a lot of the above. 🐲🐉 Kenya hold ur own! 💁‍♀️

Meanwhile the United Nations is more worried about a small island in the Indian Ocean then countries deciding that it is illegal to live the wrong person

Oh that lot are a pain the backside! Just live near the border.

Not very progressive

Before everyone gets on their high horse. How many EU Countries criminalise gay sex! Even in the UK there is one country that had not legalised gay marriage. People in glass houses etc etc.

Awful decision

👍👍👍👍👍

Well done kenyans

Gay don’t got to ja, Africa Saudi Arabia .theres a good chance you’ll not make it home sad but forewarned.

The BBC right now...

Criminalizing LGBT community is always wrong

Birthplace of mankind indeed. RemoveKenyaFromTheCommonwealth

Highly doubt that inflicted pressure will overturn this ruling so those who think the pressure tactics that worked on Brunei will work here are in for disappointment.

Western liberals trying to figure out if they can condemn this, or if doing so would be considered racist and neo-colonialist.

It's Kenya. Do you people think they care about their reputation?

Let us not co-operate with Kenya!

Good. It’s a shame other countries didn’t do the same , well done

Praise the Lord.

Don’t care. You are UK news not Kenyan.

It says nothing good about that country!😡😡
