The Federal Court upholds the High Court decision, saying the judge took into consideration all factors in dismissing Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's application.

PUTRAJAYA: The Federal Court today dismissed former deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s appeal to get his passport from the court in order to perform the umrah or pilgrimage.

“He gave good and valid reasons. An appellate court will not interfere unless the judge used the wrong principle of law,” he said in the unanimous ruling. Lawyer Hisyam Teh, representing Zahid, told the bench that the High Court judge had erred in his decision to deny Zahid his passport. However, deputy public prosecutor Ahmad Sazilee Abdul Khairi said the Attorney-General’s Chambers objected to Zahid’s application on grounds that he is facing 47 charges.
