Police say the woman was contacted by a person claiming to be from the court in Terengganu.

A civil servant in Miri lost RM1,096,800 after falling victim to the Macau scam early this month.

He said the victim was allegedly told by the woman that her bank account had been compromised for drug smuggling and money laundering totalling RM90,000. The man also advised the victim to change her registered online banking contact number to the number given by him. "The victim only realised that she had been cheated after checking her account through the automated teller machine and found only RM21 in her balance,” Mustafa Kamal said in a statement today.

Don't know about the background or rank of the 'civil servant'. But, for a 'civil servant' to lose RM1 million to a scam has certainly caught my attention. Yes. Civil servant. RM1 million. And, I always thought civil servants weren't paid enough.
