– Individuals caught for allegedly buying and selling votes during the recent May 2019 elections have been hauled to court Tuesday.Police Brigadier General John Bulalacao, director of Police Regional Office , said complaints of violation against the Omnibus Election Code were filed.
“It’s now up to prosecutors to resolve the issue. As for us, we didn’t have to wait much longer. Otherwise, the police will be accused of illegal detention,” Bulalacao explained. Based on PRO-6’s data, 37 people and three minors were caught in Iloilo and Negros Occidental provinces. In Iloilo, those caught were in Ajuy and Barotac Nuevo towns while the one in Negros Occidental was in Moises Padilla town.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong, PRO-6 spokesperson, added there were 129 reports of alleged vote buying and vote selling.This was in relation to the accusation made by the camp of Iloilo 4th District Rep. Ferj Biron, who lost the gubernatorial race against 3rdDistrict Rep. Arthur “Toto” Defensor Jr., the son of incumbent Gov. Arthur “Toto” Defensor Jr.“I am not the bulldog of the Defensors,” Bulalacao pointed out.
