Oke-Ogun Polytechnic lecturer arraigned in court over alleged forgery, theft

Popoola, 46, was arraigned on Wednesday on a three-count charge bothering on conspiracy, stealing and forgery in a suit delineated Mi/17c/19.Police prosecutor, Mr. Sunday Ogunremi, had informed the court that Popoola and others now at large, sometime between the months of August 2016 to January 2017 at the Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki in Saki magisterial district did conspire together to steal.

Ogunremi alleged that the defendant and others now at large stole the sum of one million, nine hundred and twenty-five thousand, one hundred and thirty-three naira sixty-seven kobo belonging to the institution. He added that the accused and others also forged the signature of one Mrs. Dolapo Omolola Adeniji in the same institution to withdraw her salary.

The prosecutor said the offences committed was punishable under Section 516, 390 and 467 of the Criminal Code, Cap 38vol. II Laws of Oyo State, Nigeria 2000. Oladiran after listening then granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum with an order that the sureties must be gainfully employed and must be resident within Ibadan magistrate district and they must be worth N 500,000 each.
