Alabama’s governor signed the most stringent abortion legislation in the nation, making performing an abortion a felony in nearly all cases.

Alabama’s Republican governor signed the most stringent abortion legislation in the nation Wednesday,“To the bill’s many supporters, this legislation stands as a powerful testament to Alabamians’ deeply held belief that every life is precious and that every life is a sacred gift from God,” Republican Gov. Kay Ivey said in a statement. The bill’s sponsors want to give conservatives on the U.S.

The legislation Alabama senators passed Tuesday would make performing an abortion at any stage of pregnancy a felony punishable by 10 to 99 years or life in prison for the provider. The only exception would be when the woman’s health is at serious risk. Women seeking or undergoing abortions wouldn’t be punished.“The sponsors of this bill believe that it is time, once again, for the U.S.

Kentucky, Mississippi, Ohio and Georgia recently have approved bans on abortion once a fetal heartbeat is detected, which can occur in about the sixth week of pregnancy. The Alabama bill goes further by seeking to ban abortion outright.Abortion rights advocates vowed swift legal action. One mile from the Alabama State House — down the street from the Governor’s Mansion — sits Montgomery’s only abortion clinic. Because of its location, the clinic sees a stream of patients from Mississippi and the Florida Panhandle because other clinics have closed.

so glad for this woman in authority for doing what is right

So, that is meant CA will take care of these cases too? People will come to CA for the services and taxpayers will continue to do, to pay, and to not complain.

Haha

The responses to these laws on this thread are funny. “Back to the dark ages”, “Taliban is cheering” “Handmaids Tale”. LOLOL you guys do realize that abortion existed back in those times, the methods were as horrific as the attitude nowadays in which the baby’s life doesn’t matter

The sheer blasphemy that the State of Alabama puts forth a law that a bunch of white guys create and then an old white woman signs to law shows an utter lack of respect to the citizens of Alabama. I'm embarrassed as an American.

I just want to throw up. Where did these lawmakers come from?the dark ages?

Amen! Great progress Alabama! Praise God. End the murder...

There’s an unofficial network of physicians who travel across state lines to do abortions in places where few doctors are willing to do so. A few months ago, the L.A. Times spoke with more than a dozen from California.

Right to Life and Roe v Wade are not at odds in the world of the future.

So much for separation of church and State. “ To the bill’s many supporters, this legislation stands as a powerful testament to Alabamians’ deeply held belief that every life is precious and that every life is a sacred gift from God,” Republican Gov. Kay Ivey said

The Taliban is cheering.
