Plans for a legal definition for Islamophobia 'could scupper counter-terror ops', police warn

CREATING a legal definition for Islamophobia risks scuppering counter-terror ops, police have warned Theresa May.

The idea undermines existing anti-terror laws, National Police Chiefs’ Council chairman Martin Hewitt told The Times.Terror cops have called on Theresa May to ignore calls to create an official definition for 'Islamophobia' The definition — to be debated in Parliament — calls Islamophobia a “type of racism that targets expressions of Muslimness”.This wording of the definition has been accepted by the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan, Labour, and the Liberal Democrats.

But Mr Hewitt said in a letter to the PM that the definition posed a threat to the ability to outlaw terror groups and ban sharing extremist materials.
