'Lucy's Law' puppy farm ban set to be confirmed

Bitches like Lucy are used by unscrupulous puppy farmers to produce litters which are separated from their mothers within weeks and either advertised online or sold to pet shops.

Environment Secretary Michael Gove said:"This is about giving our animals the best possible start in life and making sure that no other animal suffers the same fate as Lucy. Marc Abraham, Lucy's Law campaigner and founder of Pup Aid, said:"I'm absolutely thrilled that Lucy's Law is now being laid in parliament and will come into effect from April 2020.

He said:"We hope this ban, alongside the tougher licensing regulations that were introduced in October, will help to stamp out the underground trade that exploits these wonderful animals simply to make a quick buck."

About flipping time and ALL dog breeders should have to pay a large yearly licence to pay for the yearly checks ...not by the rspca.....and large insurance cover to cover any problems with pups .

Thank god, but this should of happened years ago.

It's the right thing to do obviously but it needs to be enforced properly and to have effective deterrents. Also the public needs to be educated to not buy from 'some bloke down the pub'. It is this ignorance and usually cost driven decisions that fuel the puppy farm trade.

Bout bloody time, took them long enough 😡😡😡
