Suaniy Gomez, 9, of Honduras, with a plate of donated food, stands with other migrants in December in front of a shelter in Tijuana. for court hearings while the policy is challenged in court.
Allowing the policy to remain in effect in the meantime lets the administration carry out an unprecedented change to U.S. asylum practices. The policy was introduced to deal with a growing number of asylum-seeking families from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador arriving at the U.S. border with Mexico. Under a court order, children generally cannot be detained more than 20 days, which has led to widespread releases of families almost immediately after they are stopped by authorities.
Good. Mexico should be dealing with people illegally crossing their own southern border.
Awesome
deport all
Chief illegal!
What stops Mexico from deciding that all its would-be migrants should be housed in the US? I do not understand the basis upon which the US is asserting the power to decide who lives on another country's land.
Thank heavens. The vast majority are NOT legitimate asylum seekers, & maybe now idiot adults including smugglers, traffickers, etc. will think twice bef dragging innocent children on a deadly & ILLEGAL journey they might not survive.
Wonderful!
Finally, some common sense in a crazy world.
