A 38-year-old civil servant has claimed trial to 25 counts of criminal breach of trust amounting to RM26,379.95.

Roziana Mohd Dahalan, a National Accounting Institute training management unit head in Sabak Bernam, pleaded not guilty when read the charges under Section 409 of the Penal Code before Sessions Court judge Azman Abu Hassan. According to the charge sheet, the alleged offences took place at a bank in Ipoh Garden here between Jan 9 and Oct 3, 2017.

Then, Rozian was the treasurer for the Perak National Accounting Department Sports and Welfare Club, and had been entrusted to deposit the club’s money into the bank.In appealing for lower bail, her lawyer Syahrul Nizar Mohd Radhi said she was a mother of two children aged 11 and 16, and earns a wage of RM3,000.“She also does not have any prior conviction,” Syahrul said, adding that bail was only to ensure her appearance in court and not a form of punishment.

Roziana also informed the court that she was the department’s unclaimed monies unit head at the time of the incidents.
