LONDON - WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange told a London court on Thursday his work had protected “many people” and refused to agree to be extradited to the United States to face trial for one of the largest compromises of classified information in history.

Asked at a preliminary hearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court whether he agreed to be extradited to the United States, Assange, appearing via a video link from a British prison, said: “I do not wish to surrender for extradition. I’m a journalist winning many, many awards and protecting many people.”

On Wednesday, he was sentenced to 50 weeks in prison by a British court for skipping bail after fleeing to Ecuador’s Embassy in London, where he remained for seven years until police dragged him out last month. “The charge relates to one of the largest compromises of classified information in the history of the United States,” said Ben Brandon, the lawyer representing the United States.

I hope that he manages to skip US prosecutions. It is sad to say, but when the world's most vibrant democracy goes this far to prosecute a journalist the ordinary men have to conclude that everything is wrong. US has to ack its mistakes and see Assange as a hero.

Saved who? You compromised so much that put people in direct harm. I hope they hang you up, and gut you so you can watch your guts fall out and you die a slow, painful death.

LOL

I don’t thank that’s enough assange

Sadly, the US will psychologly torture him. The United States is good with psychological torture.

Grant his wish not be extradited to the States. Straight to Gitmo

Yeah right.

But who and why? He chose not to protect so many. So who does he choose to protect and why? Does he still not have his social media restored? Who’s his media mouth piece now.?

Boy, that's rich! Assange's treachery is partly responsible for the unprecedented increase in white-supremacist crimes and murders in the United States. He helped Trump, and he needs to be brought to justice for his crimes!

he should NOT be send over....

I hope he survives custody to be extradited.

The American people have been brainwashed into thinking the safety of their World Police matters more than Middle Eastern civilians.
