Rep. Jerrold Nadler, the House Judiciary chair, and Rep. Doug Collins, the ranking member, prepare for Thursday's hearing without Atty. Gen. William Barr.
Kerri Kupec, the Justice Department spokeswoman, said Barr had declined to appear because “Nadler's insistence on having staff question the attorney general, a Senate-confirmed Cabinet member, is inappropriate.” “We’re not getting that opportunity today because the stunt and the circus continues over here,” he said.
“Given the attorney general's lack of candor before other congressional committees, I believe my colleagues and I were right to insist on the extended questioning,” he said.As he smacked the gavel, Republicans shouted objections that Nadler ignored.
Dirty Dems again- should apologize to Barr.
The hearing is for members of Congress to conduct oversight, and ask questions. Not for non-elected attorney’s to interview witnesses, unless they agree. Since non-elected officials were going to be asking the questions, the Dems opened the door for AG Barr to refuse to attend.
