SANDAKAN: Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Sabah STAR) is calling on Sandakan voters to elect a candidate from a local party to safeguard the state’s rights.

Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku is calling on Sandakan voters to elect a candidate from a local party to safeguard the state’s rights.

According to the party’s Tanjong Papat division chief Liew Wean Chee, DAP is unable to voice out or defend Sabah’s rights. In a statement of support for Parti Bersatu Sabah candidate Datuk Linda Tsen, Liew claimed DAP was using the Malaysia Agreement 1963 to garner support during on-going campaigning.

“However, after holding power in the government for the past 11 months, it is proven they are unable to defend Sabah’s rights,” she said. She pointed out that Sabah STAR president Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan said Sabah’s parliamentary seats were constitutional safeguards to defend the state’s rights from being eroded further.

“By right and respecting equal partnership for Sabah, DAP should give way to local parties to contest in the Sandakan parliamentary seat, so that the legislative and political rights of Sabah are protected,” said Liew.
