Harvey Duke told the court he was some distance away when, in the late afternoon of Dec. 15, he received a pair of phone calls from his son that had him rushing back to his farm.
The man accused in relation to the incident, 37-year-old Andrew David Cochrane, is standing trial at Regina Provincial Court on numerous charges. Harvey said the man lunged at him, swinging the bolt cutters. He told the court he got an arm up to block, causing cuts and bruises to his hand and arm. He was hit on the head nonetheless, sustaining an injury that required stitches.
“He said he was supposed to be there,” Bradley said, stating the man introduced himself with a handshake as “Cory.” Bradley added there were signs the man had fed the dog and cats.
It was the bogey man that I was told about when I was a little boy. These guys told me and my brother that there was a bogey man in the forest on our farm.
