Controversy trails Shari’ah court’s N7,000 fine on rapists – Daily TrustThe decision of an upper Shari’ah court sitting in Tudun Wada, Zaria, to sentence three rapists to one year imprisonment with an option of N7,000 fine has generated controversy and anxiety in the ancient city. The judge of the court, Malam Iliyasu Muhammad Umar, during the ruling said the prosecution led by Sergeant Adamu Yahaya, … Hmmmm the judge committed more evil than the rapist. Not enough. Should have been 700,000 or 10 years in prison. This Judge should be jailed for life to serve as a deterrence to others. I believe that the fight against corruption in the Judiciary should be extended to Sharia and other Customary Courts. Atrocities of Judges here are unspeakable.
