Undermining public confidence in administration of justice — Puthan Perumal

30 April 2019

It is humbly submitted that for there to be any sort of undermining or eroding of the public confidence in the administration of justice, the pre-requisite must necessarily be the presence of the public’s confidence itself. In other words, it is the perception of the public over time on the administration of justice that leads one to reach the conclusion whether or not he or she has confidence in it. It is not something that can be forced down on people neither can it be so easily taken away.

Like it or not, private litigated cases, in my humble opinion, do not play that big of a role as compared to public litigated matters in this scale of confidence in the administration of justice. This is simply because the former does not attract much attention in the media as opposed to the latter.
