A man dubbed the 'Tinder rapist' following a series of sexual assaults against women he met online finally realises the trauma his actions have caused after hearing from his victims, a Melbourne court has been told.

Glenn Antony Hartland, 44, watched from the back of the courtroom during his pre-sentence plea hearing in Melbourne's County Court on Monday as three victims detailed how the attacks devastated their lives. He has pleaded guilty to three charges of rape and one of indecent assault over attacks in Melbourne's eastern suburbs between May 2014 and March 2016.

Hartland‘s barrister Greg Barnes said he spoke with his client after hearing the prosecution’s case against him today.Mr Barnes said his client had accepted he would “go to jail for a lengthy period of time” and be a registered sex offender for life.Hartland was born in New Zealand and became a ward of the state by the age of 12 months.

After numerous breakdowns with foster families and failed attempts to be reunited with his mother, he moved to Western Australia to be with her in 1981.

It’s pathetic that it took him that long & their reactions to realise that 😡😡

Tinder and apps like it are built to cash in on and cater for the hypergamic natures of women, where they go for their secret sex, where they go to access the top 10% of men. They know it’s where the sharks lurk but that will never stop them, hypergamy doesn’t care.
