Police have ruled Capps' death a homicide.
Capps' loved ones say no family should ever have to go through anything like this. Summers is trying to stay strong and focus on finding whoever shot and killed her daughter and left her body in the woods.Thursday, she and her family went back to the area where Capps was last seen. They marched through the community chanting, carrying signs that read,"Justice for Tara."Summers said her daughter was not homeless, but hung out in different crowds.
"Her smile, her voice and her beautiful looks. She was my daughter and first-born. They took my daughter away from me," she said. The group walked to the very same wooded area where Summers discovered her daughter's body. The group said a prayer and released balloons. They hope someone who knows what happened sees the balloons, thinks of Tara and reaches out to police.
"It's not going to heal my heart. It would be good for Tara, but it's not going to heal none of our hearts. We are still going to hurt for the rest of our life," said Summers.
