Escambia County Public Schools is facing a federal lawsuit that claims it failed to protect a student who accused a coach of raping her on campus. The civil law

suit was filed nearly three years after a rape 1st charge was filed againstthe day he was turning himself into jail. On August 2nd, 2021, Bullard hit a dump truck as he made a u-turn on the Cochran Causeway.

Now, new details are emerging about the case in the civil lawsuit filed on May 24th. According to the complaint, Bullard, who was a football coach and drivers ed teacher at Escambia County High School, pulled the girl out of class and assaulted her in the girl's lockeroom. The lawsuit claims the teacher who allowed the girl to leave with Bullard was complicit because there were obvious warning signs that he had been "inappropriately targeting" the student and trying to isolate her.

The school system, former principal, and teacher named in the lawsuit have all denied these claims and asked the judge to dismiss the case.
