Despite the Supreme Court's recent ruling that former presidents have absolute immunity for official acts, legal experts say former president Donald Trump could face another conviction before the upcoming presidential inauguration. While appearing on MSNBC on Thursday, defense attorney Misty Marris commented on reports that the Department of Justice plans to prosecute Trump before Inauguration Day if he wins the 2024 election.
'And so that's enough to preclude him from being prosecuted during that time frame. Those will be the two arguments that will be set forth.'Legal analyst Terri Austin also mentioned that Trump is facing a sentence in the New York hush money case, where he was convicted on 34 counts.'Don't forget, we have the New York case, and we could have a sentence before the inauguration date in that case, and I think we will have a sentence before Inauguration Day,' Austin said.
