A law enforcement-involved shooting in Yellowstone National Park took place in the early morning of July 4th, leaving one individual dead and a park ranger injured.
According to Yellowstone National Park authorities, rangers responded overnight to reports of an armed individual making threats within the Canyon Village area. Upon making contact with the suspect, shots were fired between the individual and law enforcement officials."We are currently not releasing the individual’s identity as the investigation is ongoing," park officials stated.
One Yellowstone Park ranger was injured and transported to a nearby hospital, where he is said to be in stable condition. The area surrounding the Canyon Lodge complex has been closed off while authorities conduct this investigation.
