The Rivers state chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, is sharply divided over the judgment of the Appeal Court in Abuja which ruled in favour of Martins Amaewhule as the authentic Speaker of the state House of Assembly and the 26 others.

While the caretaker committee chairman of APC in the state, Chief Tony Okocha delight over the judgment, by saying that “justice was served”, the factional spokesman of the party, Darlington Nwauju said “today’s ruling does not vitiate the fact that the 27 Assembly men did defect from the PDP to the APC”.

The APC CTC chairman said that the Grey areas that had led Rivers state into litany of litigations have been sorted out, adding that the judgment was not ambiguous. “The fact that the Court of Appeal has taken a decision one way or the other poo poo’s the fact that while awaiting the decision of this Court, the madness that took place on the 25th of June 2024 in the name of a protest for which an improvised explosive device was detonated, was ab initio infantile, illogical and grossly irresponsible.
