The PE aims to establish if there is sufficient evidence to take case forward for trial

Less than 24 hours before former Jeffrey Donaldson’s expected appearance in court over alleged sex offences, the PPS listed additional charges to be presented to the 61-year-old in the morning.

Now an evidence file has been reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service and it is anticipated that the former DUP leader will be face 18 charges; one of rape, four of gross indecency and 13 of indecent assault. A total of 38 seats have been reserved for media across Court 3 and an adjoining room by the Northern Ireland Courts Service for the PE which is scheduled to take place at 10.30am. It is listed as one of 70 cases scheduled for Wednesday.Barrister Fiona O’Kane representing the Public Prosecution Service, had appeared by video link last month in front of Judge Eamonn King, and told the court: “Both defendants will be required to appear in person.
