Readers react to the decision of the US Supreme Court to give presidents a degree of immunity from prosecution, and the split between Labor and Fatima Payman.

US SUPREME COURT”, 2/7). Once upon a time, the Supreme Court ruled with integrity, decency and honoured the rule of law. But this decision, granting partial immunity to the president has apparently abandoned these ideals and sets the stage for a future in which all manner of depravity can be allowed.

If any party, not just Labor, cannot be sure of its members voting in the way determined in party meetings, how can it govern? If party MPs can vote any way they choose, regardless of the party platform, how can voters decide which party to elect? These four errors cost him his life. If he had avoided any one of them he may well be alive today. I am sure his memory will endure, and I respectfully hope that these important lessons can be added to his legacy of health education.Chris Vedelago’s report on the delays in the Victorian Coroners Court’s systemic reviews of family violence deaths is profoundly alarming . The revelation that these reviews can take more than two years to complete is unacceptable.
