A 35-year-old woman was fatally injured in the crash on Friday night

Michaela, 35, was involved in a collision with a blue Volkswagen Golf R on Thorpe Lane in Middleton, near to the junction with Redbarn Close, at 9.38pm on Friday .

She received emergency treatment but was sadly pronounced dead a short time later. The car failed to stop at the scene. On Saturday morning , a vehicle, believed to be the one involved in the collision, was found abandoned.In a statement, her family said: “Michaela ‘Kayla’ Louise Fowles – A beautiful Daughter, Sister and Mum. She will always be in our hearts and never forgotten. Sleep tight sweet girl.” They have asked that people respect their privacy at this difficult time.

Reece Lawrence, 29, of Raylands Way, Leeds, appeared at Leeds Magistrates Court this morning charged with causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop after a collision in relation to the incident. Get all the latest and breaking news in Leeds by signing up to our newsletter here.
