The ruling, which holds that presidents and former presidents enjoy immunity for official acts of the presidency, but not for unofficial acts, has sparked controversy amongst some, including Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor.

Reactions continue to pour in over a 6-3 ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court on the issue of presidential immunity.According to the ruling, Former President Donald Trump, along with all other presidents, enjoy immunity for official acts of the presidency, but they also noted that unofficial acts have no immunity.

"The decision makes it nearly impossible for Trump’s trial to occur before the November election, with hearings and possible appeals.
