Miles Adkins of Frederick County, Virginia, said after his federal court appearance Monday that he will not step down despite calls to do so.

Adkins admitted he stormed the Capitol, drank beer and whiskey inside, lent a hand to help others into the Capitol through a window and disrupted Capitol proceedings.He was sentenced to pay a fine and restitution, serve two years probation and serve 12 days in jail only on weekends.“Well, we’re gonna keep the main thing the main thing. The main thing is, you know, to educate the children and everything. You see our test scores rising,” he said.
