Administration lawyers have rejected several House subpoenas and requests, all but ensuring long legal battles

President Donald Trump may successfully drag out many of his legal battles with Congress beyond 2020, denying Democratic investigators much, if any, political bounty before the next election.

I mean, they really have to be very naive.”

And an Obama-era fight in which a Republican House demanded information on the gun-trafficking probe known as Operation Fast and Furious was joined in 2011, with the Housein 2012 to hold then-Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt. The fight lingers in court to this day, with information emerging in dribs and drabs over the past seven years.

“It’s the right strategy,” one former White House official said of the House effort. “Private companies don’t want bad publicity. They may have ongoing relationships with the government or congressional committees and don’t want to affect that.”The White House and government agencies sometimes decide not to comply with a subpoena, but “banks are not generally inclined to do that,” the former official added.

“This court will not — and indeed, may not — engage in a line-by-line review of the committee’s requests,” wrote U.S. District Court Judge Richard Leon, a George W. Bush appointee. Leon also cited a Supreme Court ruling saying he had no authority to consider the “motives” behind Congress’ action.

OutIn2020 Great. Let see all congress taxes and dealings for the years they been congress.

Wasnt Watergate related issues and Pentagon Papers related issues wrapped up in federal court in record time? Same should be done here. Too important to drag out.

This is not presidential! It's criminal! How can people support this psycho? Don the Con is going down!

Isn’t Trump Obstructing justice by asking his Staff not to obey Subpoena, just with Muller investigations?

Welcome to the new resistance.

WINNING!!!!

There are no appeals to impeachment. The Constitution gives Congress sole power and the final word on that. There may not currently be anywhere near enough votes in the Senate but whatever they decide is absolutely final.

Good. He corporated, they dug for anything for over 2 years. Nothing.

He's definitely going to stiffarm the socialist traitors.

He's so fat and unhealthy that I'm afraid he's going to have a heart attack before he ever faces justice.

And they'll sweep all 3. He has stiff armed the GOP even more. They can't issue subpoenas, not can Barr, they can only talk about what Trump wants and they are letting the Russians attack the election (and maybe Chinese as well)

detroit_rachel This is why we need to march!! There is no rule of law in the WH. We cannot wait until 2020 to get him put! SoSAmerica2019. Check out our next event. ImpeachDonaldTrump SOSAmerica2019

that's the plan. My counter plan is to impeach him now and let him fight that, while hanging himself in front of the American people while doing. I want to trump to be in impeachment proceedings and fighting oversight as he campaigns. his cult needs a wake up call.

He is good at suing people, maybe his only skill.

OutIn2020 What “legal” battles! Congress acting politically, hurling political accusations, is not a legal battle.

I hope not, people need to see exactly what he has done! He is the very worst President we have ever had & is eroding our democracy & respect for this country.

Then he can litigate them from prison.

I have no doubt that he and his team of lawyers will drag this on for as long as possible but......it ONLY takes 1 lawsuit that he loses to put him in jail.😉

When Trump gets impeached or voted out of office, he and his entire shitty family are going to be swept up in a massive RICO case they can't get out of.

GOP is no longer the party of lincoln & Reagan. They’re the party of trump. It’s politics over morals. They’re setting precedents for the party they will regret for decades for a guy they don’t like & know is Immoral & corrupt. Is it to late for them to wake up or have they caved

Let Trump sit in a cell block until cases come up for trial! arrestTreasonousTrump

That's okay. Please pursue throwing the book at him. RepublicansForImpeachment

It’s possible. He’s done this all his life. Drag out lawsuits making it hard for people without money to keep fighting. I hope Americans won’t let this happen. If there is a crime he must do time. He’s lawless. Our democracy is at stake.

The DOJ has a policy not to indict a sitting POTUS because he is too busy running the country to have the time for impeachment. But Trump has time for all these multiple lawsuits? Exactly who does the DOJ work for?

The democrats are dragging out legal battles. Put the blame where it's due.

So much for transparency

realDonaldTrump tell trump, he won't be around that long. The legal battles either are here/ while in office. Or he can deal with them from his Golden tower in New York

That's the plan.... obstruct obstruct obstruct
