Wilson-Raybould laments 'cynical half-measures' on Indigenous reconciliation

RICHMOND, B.C. — Former justice minister Jody Wilson-Raybould says she believes the federal Liberals have decided to"manage the problem" with Indigenous people rather than do the hard work of reconciliation.

The government appears to want to make incremental and limited shifts rather than transforming laws and policies to resolve injustices that have stood for generations, she said.Jody Wilson-Raybould and Jane Philpott at the First Nations Justice Council in Richmond, B.C, April 24, 2019. Wilson-Raybould said when she went to Ottawa in 2015, she believed it was time for politics to be done differently. True reconciliation requires courage, audacity and innovation, she told the group.

"There were some within the establishment who were fearful that shifting from the norm of how the courts had been used against Indigenous Peoples would be a costly mistake," she said.

Let’s compare it to what the last government did......

They wanted HER on that file to advance it even more than they already have but she REFUSED because it was beneath her not to be AG

JWR should do some SELF-examination of why SHE did so little to help. Now she is happily attacking the ONLY Govt who has ever done Anything to advance Indigenous Reconciliation! WTF is wrong with JWR? cdnpoli

Remember, AFN chiefs became chiefs by enacting half measures to get into office, and by denying citizens votes.

Well its what JWR wants right?

The one who refused the job to be minister of indigenous just 3 months ago !!! Please Puglaas haven’t you screwed us over enough? Puglaas Trudeau is and always has been a fraud. He uses progressive buzzwords to emotionally and psychologically manipulate people. His promises to work on First Nations issues such as reconciliation were meant to do nothing more than buy votes.
